Abstract deutsch
Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, anhand der Altorientalischen Musiktherapie das komplexe Geschehen kultureller Begegnung darzustellen.
Der Autor versuchte sichtbar zu machen, dass diese Prozesse primär die Begegnung konkreter Menschen ist, und weniger die Begegnung abstrakter Konzepte.
Im ersten Teil ging es um die Altorientalische Musiktherapie als Wissenstradition.
Zwei historische Entwicklungslinien von Musiktherapie wurden dargestellt:
Eine naturvölkisch - schamanische Linie Zentral- und Mittelasiens sowie eine islamisch- arabische Linie.
Anhand der Einbettung der Musiktherapie in das naturwissenschaftlich orientierte islamische Medizinsystem wurde gezeigt, dass die angebliche Musikfeindlichkeit des Islam eine Fehlinterpretation einer prinzipiellen Kontextgebundenheit von Musik in der islamischen Welt ist.


Im 2. Teil der Arbeit ging es um den Prozeß des Wissenstransfers.
Der Autor stellte seinen biographischen Zugang zu dem Forschungsfeld dar und argumentierte seine Sicht einer notwendigen Adaptation der Altorientalischen Musiktherapie an das Europäische Bildungs- und Therapieverständnis.
Das Spannungsfeld zwischen traditionellen, bewahrenden Ansprüchen und dynamischer Entwicklung im Rahmen eines veränderten kulturellen Kontextes wurde metatheoretisch anhand eines Exkurses über die Mythen darzustellen versucht.

In 3. Teil der Arbeit ging es zunächst um den Versuch, sich dem Phänomen Musik aus naturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive anzunähern.
Der Autor beschreibt neuere Erkenntnisse der musikalischen Rezeptionsforschung.

Er unternimmt einen Exkurs zum Problem der Erkenntnis: Er verbindet die im 1. Teil beschriebene mythologische Sicht mit der im 3. Teil dargestellten naturwissenschaftlichen Perspektive der Musiktherapie.
Abschließend versucht der Autor ein integrales Paradigma für sein Forschungsfeld zu entwickeln und schlägt zur Begleitung dieses Prozesses bewährte Dialogmodelle vor.


Abstract englisch
the purpose of this thesis to depict the complexity of cultural encounter by means of the Traditional Oriental Music Therapy (TOMT). The author has tried to show that it is primarily the encounter of people rather than abstract concepts.

The first part of the paper deals with the historical roots of TOMT.

Two developing lines of “music therapy” are described:
A shamanic line, coming from Central- and Middle Asia as well as an Islamic-Arabic line of development.
The author describes how Islamic medicine embedded music therapy into it’s scientific system. This shows that the so-called hostility of Islam towards music is a misinterpretation of a basically context-based attitude towards music in the Islamic world.

The second part of the thesis is concerned with the process of transferring knowledge.
The author describes his biographic approach to the field of research and presents his view of a necessary adaptation of the Traditional Oriental Music Therapy to the European conception of education and therapy.
Two different approaches are shown: a more conservative “traditional” one as well as one which is open for a dynamic development in the new cultural frame.
In order to discuss this problem on a meta- theoretical level the author goes on an excursion into mythology.

The third part deals with music from a scientific point of view. The results of new studies are described.
The author discusses the problem of perception. He points out to the connections between a mythological and scientific interpretation of music therapy. Finally the author makes an attempt to develop an integrative view to this subject and proposes different models of intra- and interdisciplinary dialogs.
